We’re in a Transition of Trade – What Does It Mean for You?

During this week's National Potato Council's DC Fly-In, BCI’s Matt Lantz sat down with Lane Nordlund to discuss the shifting global trade landscape.

As policies evolve, Lantz emphasized that we are in a “wait and see” period—stakeholders shouldn’t overreact to headlines but instead focus on what is actually being implemented.

He also highlighted that now is the time for change. If your commodity has faced longstanding trade barriers, this could be the moment to push for a breakthrough. He pointed out that during Trump’s first administration, U.S. fresh potatoes gained access to the Chinese market for the first time in 20 years—demonstrating that trade shifts create new opportunities.
