BCI's Nigel Quinn organized the 2023 Northwest Wine Coalition Harvest Tour where Japanese wine representatives, including, media, retail and restaurant personnel, visited Northwest wineries.
The harvest tour is an opportunity for the Japanese market to become familiar with wine making practices in the Pacific Northwest. During the tour, they got to watch the "punch down" process and tasted multiple samples in various stages of fermentation.
In this photo, you can see the group at Syncline Winery located in Lyle, WA within the Columbia Gorge AVA. The winery founder, James Mantone, provided insight into the fermentation process and their vineyard practices and philosophies.
