Last week in Wenatchee, Washington, Bryant Christie Inc.'s Senior Vice President for Global Access, Matt Lantz, attended the U.S.-Japan bilateral plant health negotiations. This meeting is held annually to address plant health and quarantine issues between the two countries.
Matt attended, seeking to advance the longstanding request of opening the Japanese market for U.S. fresh potatoes. The meeting was well-timed, as it came after the potato industry traveled to Tokyo the previous week to work on this issue with USDA’s Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs, Luke Lindberg.
BCI has been actively supporting U.S. agricultural exporters on market access and trade issues for over 25 years, including ongoing efforts to expand opportunities for fresh potatoes in Japan.
