In February, several BCI Sacramento-office staff had the opportunity to tour the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company facility in Chico, California. During the tour, the BCI team learned about the history of Sierra Nevada, the varieties of hops used, and the company’s sustainability initiatives. Overall, the tour was interactive and informative, and provided excellent insight into each step of the brewing process.
Sierra Nevada is the third largest craft brewery in the U.S. and one of the largest buyers of hops in the world. They are also an active member of the Brewers Association (BA). BCI works with the BA on its Export Development Program—promoting and facilitating exports of U.S. craft beer.
