BCI Sacramento Team Tours Rice Harvest at S, B & L LaGrande Ranches

On October 9, 2026, BCI’s Sacramento team joined a rice tour at S, B & L LaGrande Ranches in Williams, California, as part of Bryant Christie Experiences (BCX). BCX is BCI’s program of educational field visits that connect our staff with the operations behind the products we support.

The tour began at the edge of the fields, where the group learned about each stage of rice production: working the ground, flooding the fields, planting, germination, and heading. Attendees then watched the harvest as combines and bankout wagons moved through the fields.

The visit also covered how different types of rice are made. Brown rice keeps its bran, the outer layer that protects the grain, which gives it a heartier, chewier texture. White rice has that layer milled away. The group also learned about post-harvest field management, including how growers handle rice straw before the next growing season.

Visits like this deepen our team’s understanding of U.S. agriculture and support the work we do to help agricultural, food, and beverage exporters succeed in international markets.
