BCI Hosts Central American Importers for California Pear Trade Mission

Bryant Christie Inc. was pleased to organize an inbound trade mission for the California Pear Advisory Board (CPAB), hosting a delegation of Central American importers in California from July 20–23. The mission, led by Scott Somerville, welcomed five importers from Guatemala, El Salvador, and Costa Rica, along with two colleagues from Grupo PM Soluciones, CPAB's in-market representative.

The group's itinerary began with a welcome dinner at the Virgin Sturgeon, a floating restaurant on the Sacramento River. The following day, guests traveled to the River District to tour facilities and meet staff at California pear shippers Stillwater Orchards and Rivermaid Trading Company. On the third day, the group traveled north to Lake County to visit Scully Packing Co, touring orchards and the packinghouse before an evening hosted at the Scully family home.

The visit came as harvest crews were finishing the season's Bartlett pears ahead of the following week's Bosc pear harvest.

We look forward to continuing to support CPAB and its Central American buyers through meaningful market development activities like trade missions.
