This week, Alinne Oliveira (she/her), BCI’s Director of Global Access, traveled to Manila, Philippines, to participate in the USDA – ASEAN Member States Cooperation on Global Pesticide MRL Harmonization, held December 2–4 at the Makati Shangri-La.
Alinne delivered two presentations to government officials, technical experts, and industry partners from across Southeast Asia:
- “Global Challenges in Trade of Agricultural Commodities – Latest Developments”
- She highlighted the growing complexities exporters face as pesticide maximum residue limits (MRLs) evolve around the world, and how these changes impact trade flows and market access.
- “Challenges in Pesticide MRL – U.S. Grower Perspective”
- Alinne shared on-the-ground insights into how U.S. growers navigate changing MRL requirements, emphasizing the importance of science-based standards and international alignment.
BCI is proud to support efforts that strengthen understanding, harmonization, and cooperation on pesticide MRLs — critical components of ensuring safe food, reducing trade barriers, and expanding export opportunities for U.S. agriculture.
Thank you to USDA and ASEAN Member States for convening this important dialogue, and to Alinne for representing BCI’s expertise on the global stage.
